What a great party! The Lolas hosted a Welcome Back Party for Rusty Saturday, August 7th at, where else, the FloraBama! There was a great turnout and everyone was so welcoming and happy to see Rusty return to the stage. A big thanks to Joe Gilchrist, Barbara Barnes, and Susan Poston at the 'Bama for their help in coordinating the party. Thanks also go to the Lolas, to Joe Moss, and to the Lola's Poondaddy, Sonny Barr. Thanks to you, too, Bubba, for covering the door while the Lolas had to dance!
Those who were there may have seen the songs performed by George & Lori Black. George was Rusty's nurse during his chemo treatments and was a very special friend to both Rusty and I throughout all of this ordeal. And, to top it off, he is a great songwriter and singer! Hopefully, we can convince George and Lori to return to the FloraBama to showcase their talents. Dale Cowart also sang his favorite Rusty McHugh songs and of course, Ricky Rayburn made us all cry with, "These Old Road Tired Eyes". The band has just been wonderful throughout all of these months and we just cannot do or say enough to express our appreciation.
Pictures below were forwarded to me by Rob Copeland. More to come...
